Description
Suellen is running late for work but still makes a stop to light a candle for her son. It becomes clear why she lits this candle when Suellen, embarrassed, watches videos of her son lip-syncing while wearing pink, glittery clothes. While Suellen saves up to send her son to a conversion camp, she goes to great lengths to gather the money. The cinematography emphasizes the contrasts between mother and son, taking you from laughter to tears and back again. Director Carolina Markowicz (acclaimed for her film Charcoal, also in our LIFF program!) once again raises the bar for Brazilian cinema.
