Description
Studio Ghibli’s Hayao Miyazaki was supposed to retire ten years ago, but he just can’t stop making movies. Lucky us! His newest animation is about the young Mahito Maki, who misses his late mom very much. He finds consolidation and company in a talking heron and in the fantasy world that they explore together. In the background, the Second World War is destroying Tokyo. Because of the autobiographical components and the beautiful message, this film would be a gorgeous swan song for Miyazaki. But who knows: maybe, in a few years, he’ll be back at LIFF with another film!
