Description
Iranian Shayda (Zar Amir Ebrahimi, Holy Spider) resides in a women’s shelter in Australia, fleeing her homeland and her abusive husband with her 6-year-old daughter. The Persian New Year celebrations take a harrowing turn when her husband reappears. Once again, Shayda and her daughter’s freedom is jeopardized. Iranian-Australian director Noora Niasari drew from her own experiences to craft her debut script, and that personal connection is evident and deeply felt throughout the film.
