Description
Romania, December 20, 1989: a country on the brink of revolution. Outside, the streets are filled by protestors; indoors, people grapple with personal conflicts. Amidst all this, six lives intersect, brought together by the lead-up to the dramatic fall of the communist regime. With this film, director Bogdan Mureşanu wanted to illuminate this monumental moment through the eyes of the ‘ordinary’ people: the people who were very close to an important moment in history, but did not know it at the time. The New Year That Never Came was one of the major prize winners at the Venice Film Festival.
