Description
Divine G (the outstanding Colman Domingo, who will likely be nominated for an Oscar for the second year in a row) is in prison for a crime he did not commit. Along with a few other prisoners, he finds liberation in their joint theater group, where they attempt to stage their own original production. Sing Sing is not only based on a real rehabilitation program, but also proof of the success of said program: several alumni make their big screen acting debut in this film in a masterful way. With this beautiful, honest tribute to the power of art and, director Greg Kwedar (Transpecos, LIFF 2016) won the audience award ‘Festival Favorite’ at SXSW.
