Description
Gustavo’s brother Paco is a ‘Friki’: a Cuban punk rocker. In the early 1990s, a group of Frikis, including Paco, view the government-run sanatoriums for HIV patients as an escape route from their difficult living conditions in Fidel Castro’s Cuba. In order to get there, they do the unthinkable: they inject themselves with HIV. In a sanatorium, they create their own utopia with the help of music and friendship, until reality comes knocking again. Directors Tyler Nilson and Michael Schwartz more than live up to the high expectations after their directorial debut, indie hit The Peanut Butter Falcon (LIFF 2019), and once again highlight the beauty of friendship and brotherhood in a masterful way.
